Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University student communities organized a press release to protest Israel's attacks on Palestine.

The press release, held in front of the MAKU Mosque, was attended by Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar and his team, union representatives, academic and administrative staff, and many students.

In his statement, Rector Dalgar emphasized that "taking a stand against injustice and always being on the side of truth, inspired by the brave and dignified spirit of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, is our historical and moral responsibility" and continued as follows:

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University; Calling to Conscience Hearts Worldwide!

Today, we gathered to raise our voice more strongly against the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, to express our democratic reaction, to show our unity spirit, and to express our commitment to our historical mission.

Inspired by the brave and dignified spirit of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, we want to remind that it is our historical and moral responsibility to always stand on the side of truth against injustice.

The oppression in Gaza has turned into a cruelty that hurts the conscience of all humanity. Remaining silent, not reacting to this cruelty would not be worthy of the noble Turkish nation. As the descendants of a nation that has always been the advocate of justice and fairness throughout history, it is not possible for us to remain silent in the face of this oppression.

We call on the world public opinion to raise its voice against Israel's unjust and cruel attacks, to stand by the Palestinian people, and to take steps towards a peaceful solution.

As a university, we support the rightful protests continuing in universities in different parts of the world with the consciousness of defending universal human values and democracy. We also closely follow with deep sorrow and concern the unlawful interventions and grievances faced by scientists and students during the Gaza protests. During this process, we declare that our university's doors are open to all scientists and students who have suffered grievances within the framework of freedom of expression.

Our university is determined to continue to be an advocate of peace and human rights. In this regard, as the descendants of a nation that has always stood by the oppressed throughout history in a world increasingly dominated by oppressors, we believe that we need to work more, produce more, and have the strength and will as a state to say stop to the oppressors in unity and solidarity.

We hope that the message we give here today will spread to the whole world with our solidarity and unity spirit. We will continue to fight together, with one heart, to make the voice of the oppressed heard and to pursue justice.

We thank you for your participation and pray for Allah's help to our Muslim brothers and sisters suffering from oppression in oppressed regions.

After the press release, prayers were made and the statement ended.
