The panel titled "Inflation in Depth", organized by the Economics Society of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), was held in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences with intense participation. Both the academic staff and the students showed great interest in this event where the issue of inflation was discussed in depth.
The speakers of the panel were Dr. Expert Cem Baş and Expert Abdullah Çağrı Uçucu from the Price Statistics Department and Alternative Prices and Methodology Group Presidency of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The experts in the field shared their knowledge and experiences on inflation with the participants and provided important information.
In the panel, the definition, causes, and effects of inflation were discussed. The speakers gave detailed information about the methodologies, techniques, and field research methods used in determining the consumer price index (CPI) and producer price index (PPI). Dr. Expert Cem Baş explained how the data used in CPI and PPI calculations are collected, evaluated according to which criteria, and how meticulously this process is carried out. Expert Abdullah Çağrı Uçucu touched on alternative pricing methods and the difficulties encountered in inflation calculation.
In the panel, which took place with the intense interest of the students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the participants had the opportunity to ask their questions about inflation. In the question-answer part, the students received in-depth information on issues such as how inflation calculations reflect on their daily lives, the effects of economic policies on inflation, and strategies to combat inflation.
