Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), in collaboration with Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUTSO) and Bucak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, officially launched the Burdur International Trade Ambassadors Program (BUTEP’25) with its first training.

The first training of the program, which aims for international students to establish a commercial bridge between Turkey and their own countries, was held at the Burdur Development Center. The training was conducted by Burdur Development Center Director Dr. Lecturer Batuhan Medetoğlu, and BUTSO representatives and various company officials also attended the event. The training continued with theoretical knowledge on ‘Financing and Payment Methods in International Trade’ along with contributions from company representatives and sectoral examples.

With BUTEP’25, it is aimed that international students studying at MAKÜ not only enhance their academic skills but also gain practical knowledge and experience in the field of trade. Students who successfully complete the program will earn the title of ‘Burdur International Trade Ambassador’.

Additionally, firms registered with the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bucak Chamber of Commerce and Industry that are engaged in or have the potential for export-import activities will also receive a ‘Corporate Foreign Trade Certificate’ by completing the training and workshops.

Throughout the training process, students will acquire comprehensive knowledge on topics such as ‘International Trade Documents and Process Management’, ‘International Market Research and Target Country Selection’, ‘Digital International Trade and E-Commerce Strategies’, ‘Government Supports and Export Strategies’, and ‘Commercial Negotiation Techniques and Cultural Differences’.

One of the most striking aspects of the program is that students will gain direct field experience by being matched with sectoral firms in collaboration with the Burdur Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bucak Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In this way, participants will both take a step closer to their career goals and contribute to the development of permanent commercial relations between Turkey and their own countries.

BUTEP’25, which offers significant opportunities both professionally and culturally for international students studying in Burdur, aims to train young people as future trade ambassadors.
