Students of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University organized a meaningful event to both connect with nature and gain environmental awareness. The Nature Walk witnessed unforgettable moments in the region of Burdur, famous for its natural beauty. The crystal-clear water of the lake and its white sandy beaches offered nature lovers a visual feast.
Our university values not only academic success but also social development and the bond with nature. Such events enhance our students' team spirit while increasing their environmental awareness. MAKÜ is the address for a university life intertwined with nature. With these kinds of social activities that prioritize respect for natural and cultural heritage, it offers students learning opportunities not only in classrooms but in every area of life.
On Sunday, April 20, 2025, 55 nature lovers from our university's students and staff, and 41 from Burdur Nature Sports Club walked the 13 km route from Salda Ski Center to Salda Science Center (White Islands) together.
Before the event, nature lovers took a tea break at Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School Lavender Hotel. The event started at 10:30 am with a slight climb from the 1810 m altitude of Salda Ski Center to 1910 m. From the summit, the walk continued first horizontally and then continuously downhill, along forest paths and accompanied by the magnificent view of Lake Salda. They took a 45-minute lunch and rest break at noon. Under plenty of oxygen and sunshine, nature lovers occasionally sang folk songs and danced halay, reaching Salda Science Center and White Islands around 3:30 pm. The event concluded with beautiful memories.
