Within the scope of the 2025 Turkish Summer School conducted by Yunus Emre Institute, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) is hosting 15 students from 13 different countries. Within the framework of the program, which includes 1000 students across Turkey, MAKÜ makes significant contributions to intercultural interaction and the international promotion of Turkish.
A 'Welcome' meeting was organized for foreign students who will receive education at MAKÜ as part of the summer school program, hosted by the university. The meeting, attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen, Director of the School of Foreign Languages Prof. Dr. Dursun Köse, Director of the Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) Dr. Lecturer Emine Güler, Deputy Director Lecturer Dr. Serkan Doğan, and foreign students, began in a sincere atmosphere.
In the opening speech of the program, Prof. Dr. Ömer Tekşen expressed their pleasure in hosting students from 13 countries at MAKÜ, saying, “Here, we are not only teaching a language; we are also sharing our culture, hospitality, and friendship. Language is the identity of a nation. We believe that each of our students who learn Turkish will become cultural ambassadors when they return to their countries.”
Within the scope of the program, which will last approximately three weeks, students will receive intensive Turkish education at MAKÜ. In addition to the lessons, students will have the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural riches of Burdur and will spend a summer full of social activities.
At the event, students had the chance to introduce themselves using their Turkish. The program ended with the viewing of the university's promotional film.
Programs organized with the contributions of Yunus Emre Institute strengthen international ties as an important part of both language teaching and cultural diplomacy.
