Europe's best university table tennis players met at MAKÜ

The 13th European Universities Table Tennis Championship, organized by the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and coordinated by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF), has started, hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ).

 

The opening ceremony of the championship, which will be held at MAKÜ’s modern sports facilities between September 11-16, 2025, took place in a lively atmosphere at Lavanta Tepesi Hotel. The program, which began with a parade of athletes entering the hall with their countries' flags, a moment of silence, and the National Anthem, featured colorful scenes.

Organization Committee President Dr. Lecturer Mert Nalbant shared the excitement of the tournament in his opening speech: “We are delighted to host you in Burdur. We have meticulously prepared every detail for you to have an unforgettable experience. We look forward to meeting again in the future.”

 

MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized the value the championship adds to Burdur, stating: “Hosting such a large organization is a source of pride for us. This championship elevates Burdur’s sports tourism potential to the highest level. I thank everyone involved and wish success to all teams.”

 

During the ceremony, President of the Turkish University Sports Federation Prof. Dr. Mutlu Türkmen, Burdur Member of Parliament Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, and SCAC President György Kovacs conveyed their best wishes to the athletes. Kovacs thanked Rector Dalgar for MAKÜ’s contributions and presented a gift.

 

This year, 120 athletes from 13 countries will compete in the championship. Additionally, 25 officials, 20 referees, and 30 volunteer students are participating in the organization. The final matches and closing ceremony will be held on September 16, 2025.
