In Burdur, on National Afforestation Day, 1000 saplings met with the soil

The event carried out under the coordination of Burdur Governorship and led by the Forest Management Directorate was implemented within the framework of the “Breath for the Future, Breath for Humanity” project. It was reported that a total of 13 thousand saplings have been brought together with the soil throughout Burdur since the initiation of the project.
The event started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem. Then, Forest Management Director Sefa Karataş and Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan made speeches about the meaning and importance of the day.
Sefa Karataş stated that they continue the traditional sapling planting events held every year on November 11, saying, “Today, we will bring together a thousand saplings with the soil in an area of 5 decares. We see every sapling planted with the understanding of ‘Breath for the Future, Breath for Humanity’ as a hope that will carry our green homeland into the future.”
Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, in her speech, emphasized the importance of instilling a love for nature at a young age, saying, “I am happy to continue our sapling planting tradition. We are together in this beautiful weather with an event that will be a breath for the future. I wish our saplings to be auspicious.”
After the speeches, the participants moved to the sapling planting area, brought the saplings together with the soil, and gave them life water. The event ended with commemorative photos taken in memory of the day and refreshments offered.
Rector Dalgar planted saplings with MAKÜ students
Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar participated in the sapling planting event organized on November 11 National Afforestation Day with students. Meeting with TEMA Volunteers and Young Red Crescent Community members who attended the event, Rector Dalgar chatted with them for a while. He stated that similar environmental activities will continue on the university campus within the framework of MAKÜ’s “20 Thousand Saplings in the 20th Year” campaign.
The program was attended by Burdur Governor Tülay Baydar Bilgihan, Burdur Mayor Ali Orkun Ercengiz, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Forest Management Director Sefa Karataş, along with protocol members, institution directors, police and gendarmerie personnel, university students, Youth Center members, academicians, and many citizens.
