Sign language awareness events special for December 3rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities at MAKÜ

Within the scope of December 3rd International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a meaningful awareness activity was carried out at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.
Under the coordination of Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Hanife Erbil, a faculty member of the Faculty of Health Sciences Nursing Department and Assistant Coordinator of Social Contribution, extensive participation events were organized in various faculties of the university within the framework of the Sign Language course.
In the events held at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Dentistry, with students from various departments, informational activities were conducted on the use of Sign Language and the importance of accessibility in communication. Additionally, the Personal Development Community students, under the academic advisory of Dr. Erbil, actively supported the organization.
While reaching a large number of people with the awareness activities carried out, it was aimed to popularize the use of Sign Language in society and to create sensitivity regarding communication with hearing-impaired individuals. It was stated that the events made a significant contribution to the awareness of accessibility throughout the university.
