Exhibition of "Invasive Species" Created from Waste by MAKÜ Students

Yapılış Tarihi | 04 December 2025, Thursday

Students of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Biology, under the leadership of Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Deniz İnnal, have signed an impressive exhibition. Approximately 40 works, designed using household waste and depicting invasive species on them, were presented to the appreciation of visitors in the faculty building.

Participants who visited the exhibition received information from the students about both the process of using waste materials and the characteristics of the invasive species depicted. These creative works made from waste attracted great interest as they drew attention to both environmental pollution and the damage invasive species cause to the ecosystem.

Prof. Dr. Deniz İnnal, who conducts academic studies on invasive species, explained the starting point of the exhibition with the following words:

“For many years, I have been researching the negative effects of invasive species on ecology, economy, and even human health. However, I noticed that my students were not sufficiently aware of this issue. On the other hand, environmental pollution is increasing day by day. By bringing these two problems together, I wanted to both raise awareness among my students and create social awareness. We prepared this exhibition by depicting invasive species on the household waste we collected. Thus, we aimed to draw attention to environmental pollution and the effects of invasive species.”

The exhibition will be open to visitors throughout the week.
