Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Science Communication Coordination organized the “Physio-Office: Ergonomic Posture, Dynamic Work Activity” on April 17, 2026, as part of the Science Cafe meetings, with the participation of KOSGEB, BAKA, and Burdur Youth Center staff along with the public. In the event where Dr. Lecturer Mücahit Öztop from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation was the speaker, concepts such as “the body is a whole,” “the interrelationship of structure and function,” and “the body's self-healing capacity,” which form the basis of osteopathy, were explained within a scientific framework, while the importance of circulation and lymphatic flow for maintaining health was emphasized.

In the second part of the presentation, musculoskeletal system problems, which are commonly seen especially in desk workers today, were addressed. It was stated that static posture leads to ischemia in tissues and accumulation of metabolic waste, which over time paves the way for pain and loss of function. The current data shared with the participants revealed that the vast majority of office workers experience neck, back, and shoulder pain at some point in their lives. The event also emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary and holistic approach, highlighting that in addition to biological factors, an individual's beliefs, behaviors, and lifestyle are also decisive in the chronicization process of pain.

In the program, which continued interactively with a question-and-answer session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions they were curious about regarding daily work habits, ergonomics, the importance of movement, and pain management. In the event where scientific knowledge met daily life practices, it was once again emphasized that movement, circulation, and correct life habits are indispensable for maintaining health.
