Successful operation by a faculty member of MAKÜ Faculty of Medicine at Burdur State Hospital

Faculty members of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Medicine have started to provide healthcare services at Burdur State Hospital. In this context, some advanced surgical operations that previously required referral outside the province are now being performed in Burdur.

A successful operation was performed at Burdur State Hospital by Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Taha Yasin Baran on a patient diagnosed with stomach cancer. This type of operation, carried out for the first time in Burdur, lasted approximately 4.5 hours. During the surgery, the patient's stomach was completely removed, and the necessary lymph nodes were also cleaned.

In the examinations conducted, it was determined that the disease was limited to the stomach and had not spread to distant organs. It was reported that the postoperative follow-up process of the patient was progressing positively, that they were transferred to the normal ward after the intensive care process, and that oral feeding had begun.

Dr. Taha Yasin Baran stated that operations requiring cancer surgery, such as stomach, intestinal, thyroid, and breast surgery, have started to be performed at Burdur State Hospital without the need for referral, and expressed that the surgery of another patient with colon tumor was successfully performed a week ago.

This service, implemented in collaboration with MAKÜ Faculty of Medicine and Burdur State Hospital, is considered an important gain in the field of health in Burdur.
