MAKÜ Faculty of Medicine celebrated its first year: Strong academic staff, innovative vision, and the excitement of the first students

At the meeting, the happiness of the official approval by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) for the Faculty of Medicine to admit students in the 2026-2027 academic year was also shared.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, speaking at the meeting, stated that the young and dynamic academic staff is the most important strength of the faculty, emphasizing that the field of medicine is undergoing a significant transformation with artificial intelligence, biomedical technologies, digital transformation, and robotic systems. Dalgar highlighted the importance of reflecting these developments in both educational processes and healthcare services, expressing that young academics can adapt to change more quickly.

Dalgar noted that efforts to strengthen the physical infrastructure of the Faculty of Medicine are ongoing, stating that an application has been made to the 2027 investment program for the construction of the morphology building and that the investment process is being closely monitored. He also mentioned that the affiliation process is nearing completion, indicating that the necessary legal arrangements have largely been finalized and that the affiliation protocol is expected to be signed shortly.

Dalgar stated that they aim for the Faculty of Medicine to stand out by specializing in certain areas, expressing that they have the potential to become one of Turkey's reference centers, especially in sports medicine and athlete health. He noted that the university's strong sports infrastructure provides an important advantage for this goal, inviting academics to develop innovative projects and ideas.

At the end of his speech, addressing the faculty members, Dalgar expressed his belief that they will build a strong, innovative, and exemplary Faculty of Medicine together, stating, "We are open to all kinds of innovative ideas that will differentiate us. The effort is yours, the support is ours." and conveyed his wishes for success to the academics.

Prof. Dr. Cem Çetin, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, who made evaluations at the meeting, stated that the faculty has passed an important threshold in its first year of establishment, expressing the excitement of accepting its first students in the 2026-2027 academic year.

Prof. Dr. Cem Çetin stated that MAKÜ Faculty of Medicine is ready for education with its 35 faculty members, modern Anatomy Laboratory, Basic Medical Sciences Multidisciplinary Laboratory, Histology and Pathology Multidisciplinary Laboratory, Professional Skills Laboratory, and simulated patient rooms, indicating that 30 students will start their educational journey in the fall semester.

At the end of the meeting, a cake was cut to celebrate the first anniversary of MAKÜ Faculty of Medicine. The program concluded with academics taking a commemorative photo in memory of the day.
