MAKU Students Draw Attention to Environmental Awareness with Their Event

A garbage collection event was held by the students of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) to draw attention to environmental sensitivity.

Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Öner, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Sevilay Özer, academics, administrative staff, and many students participated in the garbage collection event around the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, who expressed their satisfaction in participating in the event held to create environmental sensitivity, said, “First of all, I thank our students and teachers for this sensitive event they have held. The sensitivity felt to beautify the area we live in and to make it more livable is a sensitivity that we need to convey to young people, especially as a university. Therefore, we attach importance to such and similar events.”

We Continue to Work for a More Livable Campus

Rector Dalgar, who also drew attention to sustainability, said, “There is a sustainability criterion in the national and international accreditation programs of universities. Environmental sustainability is an important criterion for universities as much as the sustainability of education and training programs. This is an important issue both in university accreditation and in international university rankings. We will document these activities frequently and record them in order to rise in accreditation processes and university rankings. Apart from these processes, we did this event specifically to increase the environmental sensitivity of our students. These studies will continue in other faculties as well. In addition, we continue our efforts to arrange the environment and make it a more livable campus in this area where students spend a lot of time around our faculty of arts and sciences. If we connect the subject to the international universities index, a livable campus is also an important criterion in universities. All these are a determining factor in our policies and strategies. These studies will be done a lot from now on. I thank all our students.”
