Great Support for Social Development and Women's Employment from MAKU

The Ball Sewing Workshop and Women's Empowerment Project, carried out to increase women's employment under the Burdur Development Center of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU), was accepted into the grant program.
The Ball Sewing Workshop and Women's Empowerment Project was successfully accepted into the grant program managed by the Australian Embassy in Ankara and financed within the scope of the Australian government's Direct Aid Program (DAP).
The project, which has achieved a significant gain in realizing societal development by increasing women's employment in Burdur Province, aims to economically and socially empower women who are a disadvantaged group living in Burdur Province and are victims of violence.
In this context, a "ball sewing workshop" will be established in the women's shelter in Burdur Province, where women victims of violence receive services with their children, if any, under the Burdur Family and Social Policies Provincial Directorate. In this workshop, vocational training related to ball sewing will be given to women victims of violence, and in addition, workshop studies on women's rights, gender equality, and communication will be carried out. The project aims to enable women victims of violence to gain vocational skills, to strengthen economically with the income obtained from the balls sold, to strengthen women socially with workshop studies, to create employment areas, and to support their economic and social participation in social life. The project aims to contribute to societal development by supporting the improvement of the socio-economic situation of women staying in the shelter.
