MAKÜ, II. Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum Attended

Uzbekistan Tashkent State Transport University and Ege University hosted the II. Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum held in Samarkand on November 13-14, 2023, with the participation of the President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Uzbekistan Republic Higher Education Council O.Q. ABDURAKHMANOV, Turkey's Ambassador to Tashkent Olgan Bekar, Burdur Mehmet Akif University (MAKÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, and 39 state university rectors from Turkey, as well as nearly 50 university rectors and representatives from Uzbekistan.

The President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, the President of the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan O.Q. Abdurakhmanov, Turkey’s Ambassador to Tashkent Olgan Bekar, the Rector of Burdur Mehmet Akif University (MAKÜ) Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, and 39 state university rectors from Turkey, along with nearly 50 university rectors and representatives from Uzbekistan, attended the II. Uzbek-Turkish Education Forum held in Samarkand on November 13-14, 2023, hosted by Tashkent State University of Transport of Uzbekistan and Ege University.

At the forum, topics such as expanding cooperation opportunities between the higher education institutions of the two countries, student exchange programs, joint scientific projects, dual degree possibilities, and other strategic areas of cooperation were discussed.

Rector Dalgar, who attended the forum, which is important for Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University’s internationalization strategy, the development of its scientific potential in the international arena, and the establishment of bilateral academic collaborations, stated in his speech that “the agreements signed with the prestigious state universities of Uzbekistan should be considered as an important step for the academic work that the two friendly and brotherly countries will carry out.” Rector Hüseyin Dalgar made an important presentation titled “Supporting Scientific Innovation Activities and Developing Human Capital,” which also reflects the policy of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, to an audience mostly consisting of rectors.

In the meetings, which were very productive in terms of international collaborations, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University signed academic cooperation agreements with 12 universities, including Samarkand State University, Samarkand Veterinary University, Samarkand Architecture University, Karshi State University, Karakalpakstan State University, Bukhara State University, and Andijan State University, where common working areas were determined.











The academic cooperation and dual degree program agreements signed last year with the Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages have borne fruit, and student and academic staff mobility, especially within the Erasmus program, has taken place between the two institutions. Within the scope of the dual degree program in the new period, students who complete the first two years of their undergraduate studies in Samarkand will be able to complete the last two years at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and earn a dual degree.

During the forum, a visit was made to the rector of Samarkand State University, Prof. Dr. Khalmuradov Rustam Ibragimovich.
