Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) students did not remain silent about the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.
MAKÜ Student Communities reacted to Israel's blockade of Palestinians and inhumane actions with a statement they published.
Many student communities, especially the MAKÜ Human Rights and Freedoms Community, gathered at the entrance of Avşar Han to show that Palestine is not alone. In the press release of the student communities, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, Human Rights and Freedoms Community Academic Advisor Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, Rector Advisor Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Alparslan, Deputy Secretary General Mesut Türkmen, Burdur Young IHH members, and academic and administrative staff were also present.

Speaking on behalf of the communities, Burdur Young IHH President Oktay Akgül said, “We are witnessing one of the greatest destructions and genocides in Gaza's history.” and continued as follows: “Massacres are being carried out before our eyes in Gaza. The dismembered bodies of babies and children burn our hearts. The whole world remains silent against the lawless and arrogant oppression of Zionist Israel. Unfortunately, the whole world is closing its eyes and turning a deaf ear to these massacres. They want the Palestinian people to remain silent even if they are massacred. Not to object even if they are exiled. Not to resist while being annihilated. To accept their fate while their sanctities are trampled, their hospitals, schools, and mosques are bombed. Today is not the time to remain silent. It is time to wipe the tears of mothers with tearful eyes. It is time to protect innocent children and babies in cradles.”
