The 3rd Meeting of MAKÜ's "Hayvan Refahı" Project was Held in Italy

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine faculty member Prof. Dr. Özkan Elmaz’s coordination of the "Dissemination of Animal Welfare Practices in Farmed Ruminants" project’s 3rd training meeting was held in Milan, Italy.
Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Animal Science and Animal Nutrition faculty member Prof. Dr. Özkan Elmaz’s project coordination, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turkey National Agency's 2021 Erasmus + Vocational Education Cooperation Partnerships (KA220-VET) Projects Activity; accepted within the scope of the project partners from Turkey, Italy, and Portugal; 2021-1-TR01-KA220-VET-000025255 numbered WELFARUMINANT “Dissemination of Animal Welfare Practices in Farmed Ruminants” project’s scientific activity was held between 4-8 September 2023 at the University of Milan Faculty of Agriculture in Italy "Good Practices and Welfare Assessment in Small Ruminant Farms in the European Union" 3rd Learning, Teaching and Training (3rd LTT) event was organized.
The event was attended by project partners from Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Burdur Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Burdur Chamber of Veterinary Surgeons, and the University of Lisbon Faculty of Veterinary Medicine from Portugal.
In the 5-day training sessions, where the “Animal Welfare Protocols” applied in sheep-goat breeding in European Union countries were explained to the participants, both theoretical information and practical training with farm visits were provided.
As part of the training provided as a project output, a book titled “Welfare Assessment Handbook for Sheep-Goats” will be prepared and published on the https://www.welfaruminant.org/ website.
