Konyaaltı Belediyespor Women's Handball Team is Camping at MAKÜ

In the European Cup organized by the European Handball Federation (EHF), Konyaaltı Belediyespor Women's Handball Team, which completed the 2022-2023 season with a championship, continues its preparations for the new season at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Athlete Camp Center.

Head coach Birol Uysal, who will spend the 10-day camp season at MAKÜ Sports Facilities in Burdur, provided information about the Konyaaltı Belediyespor Women's Handball Team. Emphasizing that the team, which was the European Champion last year, needs to work in a productive place to be ambitious again in the same cup and in Turkey as they start this season, Uysal said; “We did research and learned that there is such a facility in Burdur. With the support of Burdur Municipality, we saw that there are truly proud facilities in MAKÜ that are a source of pride for our country, and we thought that there could not be a better environment for our work to be productive. Therefore, we decided to work here. We see serious support from our professors at the Faculty of Sports Sciences, our Rectorate, and our municipality. They adopted us as their own team. We are enjoying training in a very good environment with very good facilities. We want Konyaaltı Municipality to always be talked about in Turkish Women's Handball and to be an idol in Turkey, to lead for young players and clubs. We are working with all our might to achieve this. Our Konyaaltı Mayor Semih Esen really gives special importance to women's sports by making positive discrimination. He gives serious support to women doing sports, to Turkish women being on the fields, and we formed a team in this direction. We want to be at the top both in the Turkish league and in Europe. We think that this facility will be both lucky and productive for us.” he said.

Sevilay İmamoğlu Öcal, who is the goalkeeper of the National Team, Star, Youth, Beach, and University National Teams and has earned 300 caps, and also the goalkeeper of Konyaaltı Municipality Women's Handball Team, said that they started their work in Antalya and came to Burdur for the second stage and that there is an amazing facility in Burdur. Sevilay İmamoğlu Öcal, who said that both the stadium, the sports hall, and the fitness halls are very beautiful, said; “We are having an amazing camp period. We are the European Champion of last year. Next year, we will again be in the same cup and will strive to become champions. At the same time, our goal this year is to be the Turkish super league and Turkish Champion. We want to be champions in all three cups we compete in. I would like to thank the MAKÜ Rectorate for this beautiful facility.” she said.
