MAKÜ Became a Member of the Turkey Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP)

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), became a member of the Turkey Food Innovation Platform established within the scope of Turkey's largest food R&D and Innovation Project INNOFOOD.

TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) became a member of the Turkey Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP), which was established within the scope of the INNOFOOD Project to increase the regional and international competitiveness of the food sector based on innovation, and was opened on July 6, 2022, at the TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM) Gebze Campus.

TÜGİP, which was established under the leadership of TÜBİTAK MAM and within the scope of the European Union “IPA-INNOFOOD Project” and is a communication network and clustering platform for all actors in the food and beverage sector without legal personality, aims to become a leading platform in R&D and innovation for the food and beverage sector and to increase the competitiveness of the Turkish food and beverage sector based on innovation at regional, national, and international levels, especially for SMEs and startups.

MAKÜ Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Durmuş Acar, who stated that the TÜGİP membership, which was realized with the protocol signed between TÜBİTAK Marmara Technopark Inc. (MARTEK) and MAKÜ on 27.04.2023, is a part of the systematic studies carried out in line with the goal of conducting R&D activities for the animal food sector within the scope of the “animal husbandry-based industry” axis, which is one of the three main axes of the Regional Development-Oriented Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Project carried out by MAKÜ, said, “I wish the TÜGİP membership to be beneficial to our university and researchers conducting studies in the field of food at our university.”

TÜGİP, which can be joined by food and beverage manufacturing companies, startups in the sector, R&D centers, businesses in the food ecosystem, businesses offering innovative services to food and beverage manufacturing companies, universities, food testing and analysis laboratories, and sectoral umbrella and roof organizations, provides its members with opportunities such as finding cooperation partners, participating in joint benefit projects, using pilot processing facilities, accessing expert researchers, special testing and analysis services, determining the R&D and innovation needs of companies, designing and implementing R&D and innovation projects, and increasing the visibility of developed products and companies. In addition, TÜGİP members can access pilot facilities, laboratory opportunities, national and international projects, and expert pools within the scope of TÜBİTAK MAM and the project.
