Mehmet Akif Ersoy UAM, Continues to Describe the National Poet with Different Aspects

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ), continues to commemorate and tell about the national poet, whose name it proudly bears, all over Turkey. In this context, Mehmet Akif Ersoy Application and Research Center Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Olpak Koç attended the conference titled “Mehmet Akif and Women's Consciousness” held at Ankara Yunus Emre Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Olpak Koç focused on Mehmet Akif's behavior towards the women who were part of his life as a son, husband, father, and grandfather. Emphasizing that Mehmet Akif Ersoy was also a role model with his behavior towards women, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olpak Koç highlighted that he continued these attitudes and behaviors in his poems. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Olpak Koç also underlined his determination on this issue by saying, “Mehmet Akif did not refrain from criticizing negative attitudes towards women in the harshest language.”
“Mehmet Akif and the History of Veterinary Medicine with New Documents”
An online interview titled “Mehmet Akif and the History of Veterinary Medicine with New Documents” was held by the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Application and Research Center.
The interview was moderated by Mehmet Akif Ersoy Application and Research Center Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Olpak Koç.
Retired faculty member of Ankara University Dr. Atilla Özgür, who participated as a speaker in the program, stated that he had reached a document containing important information for the history of veterinary medicine by Mehmet Akif and provided information about what was written in this document. In his speech, Dr. Özgür said, “In addition to providing physical information about the school building from which he graduated, Akif also draws attention with his proposal for civil veterinary medicine. This shows us that the poet was not only a good observer but also a good archivist.”
The interview, which was attended by many listeners, ended after the question-and-answer session.
