Farmer training sessions conducted within the scope of livestock projects carried out under Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) are continuing. Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz met with farmers from the Ağlasun district of Burdur, who received training as part of the project.

Rector Prof. Dr. Adem Korkmaz, Ağlasun District Governor Tahir Demir, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, Ağlasun Mayor Ali Ulusoy, Ağlasun District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Osman Güneş, Director of Ağlasun Vocational School Dr. Hakan Kırbaş, Director of Burdur Development Center Dr. Seher Yastıoğlu, academicians, and farmers attended the training sessions held at the Ağlasun Vocational School Conference Hall.

In the training sessions held in Ağlasun district, where approximately 7,000 producers from 177 villages in 11 districts of Burdur have received the Conscious Farmer Certificate so far, faculty members from MAKÜ Veterinary Faculty, Prof. Dr. Şima Şahinduran, Prof. Dr. Faruk Pehlivanoğlu, and Dr. Eren Kuter, provided education on animal feeding, birth, and animal diseases.

Ağlasun District Governor Tahir Demir, Ağlasun Mayor Ali Ulusoy, and Ağlasun District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Osman Güneş thanked MAKÜ for providing such an opportunity to the producers. Mayor Ali Ulusoy also conveyed requests from the breeders, asking for these training sessions to be extended to cover small livestock as well.

Rector Korkmaz, providing information about the livestock projects carried out by MAKÜ, said the following about the training: 'The involvement of women in the initiative indicates that the enterprise develops more healthily. We had previously held a workshop in Ağlasun. In that workshop, we highlighted agriculture and tourism as the main fields of initiative for Ağlasun. Although there is a decline in agriculture, breeders are still maintaining their presence in the highlands. They continue their work in cattle breeding as well. As of today, our farmer training efforts have reached 177 villages. We set out with the slogan ‘Every village is a classroom.’ Our professors, saying that ‘the issues of our breeders and farmers are just as valuable and important as the scientific R&D we will produce,’ are working day and night to continue the training. Together with our professors at MAKÜ, we have developed a quality system in the form of A, B, and C to evaluate the quality of farms. This system was included in the investment program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry this year. It was published in the Official Gazette two days ago. We have a mission, a duty, and a responsibility given to us by our President in terms of Regional Development. With this responsibility, we have been producing projects for years and continue to work. After the training, books published by our university will be distributed to you. When you review those books, you will find common misconceptions corrected. I wish the training to be beneficial to all of you and thank you for your participation.

Following the speeches, the Conscious Farmer Certificate and the breeder's handbook were presented to the farmers from Burdur and Ağlasun center, as well as the villages of Çamlıdere, Dereköy, Hisarköy, Kibrit, Mamak, Yazır, Yeşilbaşköy, and Beyköy.
