Curriculum Completion and Artificial Insemination Training for Veterinary Health Technicians

The Veterinary Faculty of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Department of Reproductive and Artificial Insemination, will organize the Curriculum Completion and Artificial Insemination Training for Veterinary Health Technicians between November 30 – December 11, 2026. The applications will be conducted with an approach where the findings of rectal examination are simultaneously visualized and verified with ultrasonography.

Purpose of the Training:

The aim is to provide Curriculum Completion training for Veterinary Health Technicians who will engage in artificial insemination activities with a degree in Laboratory and Veterinary Health and Animal Breeding and Health, to certify those who succeed, and thus to train technicians capable of performing Artificial Insemination. Ultrasonography is used as a teaching tool in this program. Participants will experience the examination of reproductive organs alongside rectal palpation with ultrasonography.

Content of the Training:

The training provided will be based on the regulation amendment published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry dated 18.12.2013 and numbered 28855; it is for Veterinary Health Technicians who graduated from two-year Laboratory and Veterinary Health and Animal Breeding and Health Associate Degree programs, working under the supervision of a veterinarian after high school education, and who succeed in the Curriculum Completion Training will receive training on ‘Artificial Insemination by Recto-Vaginal Method in Cows’. The training will cover reproductive anatomy, physiology, and endocrinology in cows both theoretically and practically.

ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION COURSE PROGRAM

DAY 2	Morning	Recto-vaginal cervix application of artificial insemination on female material coming for slaughter
	Afternoon	Observation, detection, and the most suitable insemination time for estrus in cows
DAY 3	Morning	Application of recto-vaginal artificial insemination in cows coming for slaughter
	Afternoon	Working on genital organs at the end of slaughter
DAY 4	Morning	Application on female material coming for slaughter
	Afternoon	Technique of thawing the straw and maintenance of the technician's thermos
DAY 5	Morning	Factors affecting success in insemination and possible precautions, clinical use of hormones in cows Selection of bulls to be used in artificial insemination, examination of frozen-thawed sperm, and genetic planning

Those who succeed in the curriculum completion training will be entitled to participate in the Artificial Insemination Course Program specified below. Trainees who successfully complete the Artificial Insemination Program will be entitled to receive an Artificial Insemination Certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The certificate fee (2,147.00 TL) will be deposited into the relevant account of the ministry. Attendance is mandatory throughout both courses.

Fees and Registration

The training fee is 22,000 TL. The ministry certificate fee (2,147.00 TL) is excluded. The training fee will be deposited into the relevant account of the University Revolving Fund on the course start date.

The quota is limited to 15 people. The first 15 candidates who complete their documents will be accepted into the group; those who are outside the quota will be prioritized for the next term.
