The 11th e-Safe Cybersecurity Summit, one of Turkey's long-established cybersecurity organizations, was held in Ankara on November 4, 2026. The summit brought together leading representatives from public institutions, the telecommunications sector, and the cybersecurity ecosystem, and also hosted the Turkey-wide CTF (Capture The Flag) Competition, which teams from all over Turkey participated in.
In the competition where challenging tasks and technical skills were highlighted, students from Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University made their mark with their outstanding performance.
Çağın Kayra Yıldırım, a 2nd-year Computer Engineering student from the Faculty of Engineering-Architecture, and Seyfullah Polat, a 2nd-year Mathematics student, achieved first place in Turkey in the competition they participated in as the MAKÜSEC team under the Siberay club.
Competing against strong rivals with five-member teams, MAKÜSEC, consisting of only two members, outperformed their competitors with the knowledge, strategy, and teamwork they demonstrated, reaching the top of the podium. With this success, the students also became the recipients of a cash prize of 70,000 TL.
In CTF competitions where talents and technical skills in cybersecurity are tested, participants try to solve realistic scenarios prepared in various fields such as web security, cryptography, digital forensics, reverse engineering, and network analysis. Teams aim to detect security vulnerabilities in systems and find secret keys before their competitors, racing against time with their knowledge and skills.
With this significant achievement obtained by a two-member team, the MAKÜSEC team added another success to Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University's student achievements in technology and cybersecurity.
The first place of MAKÜ students in Turkey became a source of pride for the university and Burdur.
