Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in Burdur has established the "MAKU Plus" platform to enhance the quality of education and enrich the student experience. Developed by the MAKU Education and Teaching Development Coordination, MAKU Plus is designed as a development platform that values students' extracurricular achievements, scores the activities they participate in, and documents these activities. The platform aims to enable students to have interactive learning experiences and increase their academic success.
The introduction of MAKU Plus was held at Lavanta Tepesi Hotel. After the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, the MAKU Plus Development Platform promotional film was watched. Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, emphasizing that MAKU Plus is a reflection of the importance the university gives to technological innovations in education, drew attention to MAKU's student-centered approach and vision supporting academic success, and said:
MAKU Has Never Been An Ordinary University, And It Will Never Be
“MAKU Plus is a platform created based on the answers we received when we asked why you should study at MAKU. We are trying to prepare programs that will make us different from other universities, looking at the developments in higher education trends worldwide, and will help you prepare better for the future. We know very well that you cannot be adequately prepared for the future by just teaching classic lessons within four walls. Of course, lessons are very important for your academic development, but in a period where university life is questioned worldwide, and how necessary it is to spend time with classic education models, it is very important for us to prepare you in accordance with different developments in the world and to create an ecosystem. MAKU has never been an ordinary university, and it will never be. It has always been a university that has differentiated and stood out from other universities with its work. Despite being a young university of 18 years, it is the first university to implement the 6+2 and 7+1 education model in applied education. After starting these applications, it entered the higher education agenda and other universities have just started to implement this model. In a period where access to information is easier, awareness and skill acquisition are essential, and technological developments are rapidly aging and transforming professions, we do not want you to graduate with just one diploma. With MAKU Plus, you will document your extracurricular achievements, and you will be different from others when you join the working life after school. That's why I find this study very valuable. I am also very happy that you can serve this country better."
Don't Let Your Diploma Limit You
“Being ordinary is no longer acceptable today. If we do not follow developments and transformations, we will be ordinary. This is not enough for success. You need to have some features that will differentiate you from millions of university students. Don't let your diploma limit you. It is quite natural for you to choose a profession related to the education you receive, but when you see that your profession will not carry you forward in the coming years, you need to adapt when it signals you to gain new qualifications and turn to different fields. For this, you need to have social competencies, be aware, and most importantly, have learned to learn. We are always with you. We are also working for our graduates. The developed MAKU Plus supports you to gain many competencies. I thank everyone who contributed to the preparation of this platform.”
Later in the program, technical information about MAKU Plus was given by Dr. Faculty Member Abdül Samet Demirkaya from the Education and Teaching Development Coordination. Demirkaya stated that the platform will increase students' interactive learning experiences, increase their motivation, and make learning more enjoyable, and talked about the advantages offered by MaKU Plus and the ease of use of the platform.
The program ended after the students asked the questions they were curious about the platform.
