Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Yeşilova İsmail Akın Tourism Vocational School conducted a field study on the first stage of the Lycian Way, one of Turkey's most well-known long-distance hiking routes.
Faculty members of the Travel Tourism and Entertainment Services Department, Dr. Lecturer Uğur Tozkoparan and Dr. Lecturer Faruk Gökçe, were joined by Tourist Guidance Program students Zeki Ömeroğlu and Turgay Sağlık on the exploratory hike.
During the two-day hike, the first day's route, starting from Ovacık and extending to Kirme, Faralya, and Kabak Bay, covering approximately 22 kilometers, was completed. On the second day, the 16-kilometer section starting from Kabak Bay and covering the route of Alınca, Yediburunlar, and Ge Village was walked, completing the first stage of the Lycian Way.
Dr. Lecturer Uğur Tozkoparan stated that this hike was intended to lay the groundwork for future field trips in courses such as 'Turkey Tourism Geography', 'Tourism Geography', 'Turkey Cultural Tourism', 'Turkey Geography', 'Turkey's Historical Geography', and 'Anatolian History and Civilizations I-II'. Tozkoparan also emphasized that such practices play an important role in enhancing students' professional knowledge and experience.
