Awards for Accreditation and Accessible University Success were presented at MAKÜ

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) held the last Senate Meeting of the 2025-2026 academic year under the chairmanship of Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar. After discussing the agenda items at the meeting, the documents were presented to the departments and programs that achieved accreditation success and to the units entitled to receive Accessible University Awards.

 

At MAKÜ, which draws attention with its emphasis on quality assurance and accreditation efforts in higher education, the accreditation successes of various faculties and programs were awarded at the senate meeting.

 

The Primary School Mathematics Teaching, English Teaching, Classroom Teaching, Social Studies Teaching, and Turkish Teaching programs within the Faculty of Education had their accreditations extended until 2028 and 2029 as a significant achievement following the interim evaluation conducted by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Teacher Education Programs (EPDAD).

 

The undergraduate programs in History and Turkish Language and Literature of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences also qualified for 5 years of full accreditation, valid from January 7, 2026, to September 30, 2031, as a result of the evaluation conducted by FEDEK.

 

The Tourism Management and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts departments providing education within the Faculty of Tourism were awarded 6 years of full accreditation by the Tourism Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board (TURAK). With this success, MAKÜ Faculty of Tourism took its place among the few tourism faculties with all active departments fully accredited.

 

The Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program, affiliated with the Department of Physical Education and Sports Education of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, also qualified for 2 years of accreditation, valid from April 17, 2026, to April 17, 2028, as a result of the evaluation conducted by the Sports Sciences Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Board.

 

The documents of the departments and programs that achieved accreditation success were presented by Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar after the Senate Meeting.

 

Accessible University Awards were presented

Additionally, at the meeting, the Accessible University Awards 2025 organized by the Higher Education Council were presented to İstiklal Campus, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Sports Sciences, and Ağlasun Vocational School, which were deemed worthy of the Green and Blue Flag awards for their work in the field of accessibility.

 

In his speech at the award ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized the importance of equal opportunities in education, stating that efforts to remove barriers to access in higher education and accreditation efforts are among the university's priorities. Rector Dalgar expressed that the awards received are a reflection of the work done and thanked all the staff involved.

 

MAKÜ aims to carry its achievements in both academic accreditation and accessible university practices into the new term with its quality-focused education approach and accessible campus efforts.
