MAKU made its mark on the Sport Drone Races.

The "Sportif Dron" races, organized under the UNILIG of the Turkish University Sports Federation, took place between May 9-10, 2024 at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) with the participation of Akdeniz University, Antalya Belek University, Antalya Science University, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, and Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa FPV and Hobby Dron teams at the MAKÜ Stadium located in the Istiklal campus. The technical meeting of the organization took place on May 8, 2024 at the Avşar Han conference hall with the participation of technical committee officials of the Turkish University Sports Federation Sportif Dron category, competition referees, SKS officials, team athletes, and team managers. During the technical meeting, the competition rules were explained, followed by a question and answer session, warm-up rounds, and a draw for the race order. The MAKÜ Sportif Dron team, led by Dr. Sertaç Çoşman from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, achieved great success in the races. The Sportif Dron team, consisting of Mert Eşme, Gizem Nur Tülü, and Merve Sena Sur from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, and Mert Kökdere from the Department of Information Systems and Technologies at Bucak Zeliha Tolunay Vocational School of Applied Technology and Management, became champions in both FPV and Hobby Dron categories. In the individual category, Mert Eşme from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at MAKÜ won first place in both categories by breaking the track record.
