MAKÜ’de Eğitim Bilimleri Enstitüsü graduates were bid farewell

This year, the excitement of postgraduate graduation was experienced in three different institutes at Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ). In the postgraduate graduation ceremonies held for the first time this year, the Education Sciences Institute also bid farewell to its graduates after the Institute of Science and the Institute of Health Sciences.

 

In the ceremony held at the Veterinary Faculty Conference Hall, the master's graduates of the Education Sciences Institute received their diplomas. The ceremony was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, academicians, students, and their families.

 

In her opening speech, the Director of the Education Sciences Institute, Prof. Dr. Perihan Ünüvar, emphasized the importance the university places on scientific development. Ünüvar stated that the institute started its activities in 2013 and that they are currently providing education with 31 postgraduate programs in 9 departments. Ünüvar said, “Currently, 893 of our students are receiving postgraduate education. We continue this process with 130 academic staff and 5 administrative personnel. Since our establishment, we have graduated 1133 students. Today, we are happy to add new ones to them.”

 

Addressing the graduate students in her speech, Ünüvar said, “You are not only our graduates but also the representatives of MAKÜ across the country. The patience, effort, and determination you have shown on this journey of success are commendable.”

 

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, who spoke at the ceremony, also drew attention to the strategic importance of postgraduate education for universities and countries. Gürsoy stated that approximately 3,000 of MAKÜ's 35,000 students are enrolled in postgraduate programs, “2,500 of these students are receiving master's education, and about 400 are at the doctoral level. Our goal is to further develop our research, publication, and R&D capacity by increasing these numbers.”

 

Emphasizing the quality-focused structure of the university, Gürsoy reminded that MAKÜ has been accredited by the Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) for 5 years, saying, “With this success, we are among the few universities in Turkey. Now, we aim to improve the quality management processes of our institutes. We plan to provide ISO 9001 Quality Management System training to all our institute personnel in cooperation with TSE.”

 

Gürsoy expressed that the academic titles of the graduates bring not only individual success but also social responsibility, emphasizing that MAKÜ will continue to support them within the framework of lifelong learning without severing ties with its graduates. He also stated that the initiated micro-qualification programs will be open to graduates.

 

At the end of the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were presented to the students who achieved high ranks by Prof. Dr. Oğuz Gürsoy, while the graduates received their diplomas from their advisor faculty members. The program ended with a group photo shoot.
