Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) Faculty of Education organized a meaningful celebration program on the occasion of November 24 Teachers' Day. The program began with a promotional film prepared specially for the 60th anniversary of the faculty.

The strong ideal behind 60 years: Teaching

The opening speech of the program was made by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar. In her speech, Çakar emphasized the importance of the teaching profession for society and said: “Today, we are not just celebrating a calendar day, but the 60-year accumulation of our Faculty of Education and the stories of our teachers who shed light on the future. For 60 years, we have trained thousands of teachers who see their profession as a social responsibility, bringing it together with the human heart in the light of science.”

Çakar stated that teachers raised with the values of the Republic of Turkey shape the bright future of the country and drew attention to the critical roles of teachers in social change. “Societies are changing, generations are differentiating, technology is advancing rapidly; however, what does not change is a teacher's touch on a child's life. Teaching is a way of life dedicated to humanity,” she added.

Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar: “No artificial intelligence can replace a teacher!”

Then, MAKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar took the podium and emphasized that teaching is a sacred profession. Dalgar mentioned that despite the rapid development of technology today, the place of teachers can never be taken by robots or artificial intelligences. “Teachers undertake values such as contributing to a person's development, conveying emotions, and serving humanity. Therefore, your profession is very valuable,” he said.

Rector Dalgar stated that the Faculty of Education has had a successful history since 1965 and expressed that the faculty has pioneered with innovative approaches and works in the field of accreditation. He also said that the university has taken significant steps in introducing teacher candidates to modern technologies.

Graduates of the Faculty of Education also shared their feelings

In the program, Retired Teacher Mehmet Dursun, who graduated from the Faculty of Education in 1978, Education Faculty Graduate Barış Can, and Preschool Education teacher candidate Elif Manış also made speeches expressing their commitment to the teaching profession. After these emotional moments, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Firdevs Savi Çakar presented plaques to the speakers.

The celebration enriched with music and poetry recital

The program concluded with a music and poetry recital prepared by the students of the Music Education Department and Turkish Education Department of the Faculty of Education. The performance prepared by the students also presented the artistic reflection of teachers' contributions to education to the audience.

The Teachers' Day Exhibition was visited with interest

At the end of the program, a painting exhibition specially prepared for Teachers' Day was visited. The exhibition reflected the values teachers add to society and the strength of the educational community through visual arts.

This meaningful gathering once again emphasized the importance of the teaching profession, serving as a celebration that sheds light on both the past and the future. MAKÜ once again demonstrated its determination in training teacher candidates and its respect for the teaching profession.

Happy Teachers' Day!
