The afforestation efforts continue at full speed within the scope of the "20 Thousand Saplings in the 20th Year" campaign carried out by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ). In line with the events organized with the aim of a greener campus, approximately 1000 cedar saplings were planted in the area in front of the Cevat Sayılı Faculty of Health Sciences.

The event, which attracted great interest from student communities, was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar, university administration, academic staff, and a large number of students.

"We want every student to have a planted tree on campus"

Speaking at the event, Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar emphasized the importance of the campaign initiated, reminding that the university will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2026. Dalgar used the following expressions:

"As we approach our 20th year, we announced the '20 Thousand Trees in the 20th Year' campaign. This campaign is open to everyone, from our students to academic-administrative staff, and anyone who wants to support from outside. Today, with the organization of our student communities, we are bringing approximately 1000 saplings together with the soil in this area with suitable land structure. With the support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the contributions of our faculties and communities, we plan to complete our target of 20 thousand saplings by 2026."

Reminding that the MAKÜ campus is located in a region disadvantaged in terms of tree presence, Dalgar said that green areas have significantly increased with the plantings made every year. Dalgar said, "We want every student studying at our university and every staff member working to have a planted tree on campus. Considering that approximately 8-10 thousand students graduate every year, we can say that our campus will have a much greener appearance in a few years."

Expressing his satisfaction with the intense participation of students in the tree planting event, Dalgar said, "The interest and sensitivity of young people towards nature is really high. We saw this once again today. I thank all our students who shared this enthusiasm with us. I also invite the people of Burdur to support this campaign." he used the expressions.

The event ended with refreshments being offered to the participants after Rector Dalgar planted saplings with the students.
